While the presence of Russell's Viper is alarming, human encounters with these snakes are generally rare. Russell's Vipers typically inhabit lowland grasslands, thickets, open forests, and agricultural areas, often avoiding human settlements.
The snake's matte colour allows it to blend easily with the ground, making it difficult to spot. If people approach too closely without noticing the snake, it may attack out of fear. As good swimmers, Russell’s Vipers have spread to different parts of the country via river currents and floodwaters.
